About
Duke University A Cappella Council is a student organization dedicated to uniting the various recognized a cappella groups on Duke's campus. The groups currently recognized are: Deja Blue, Lady Blue, Out of the Blue, The Pitchforks, Rhythm & Blue, Something Borrowed Something Blue, and Speak of the Devil. The council's stated purpose is as follows in its Constitution: The group has been created in an effort to unite the various recognized a cappella groups on Duke University’s campus. As a council, the group shall work together to ensure that every recognized a cappella group on campus is offered equal and fair opportunity to the various resources Duke University has to offer. In this way, the groups will each be able to more effectively and efficiently enhance their unique contribution to the larger Duke community. The Duke University A Cappella Council will also encourage artistic collaboration between a cappella groups and will sponsor collaborative performances, events, and workshops that are open to the Duke Community in an effort to raise awareness of the art of music and broaden perspectives to realize music’s transformational power. Finally, the Duke University A Cappella Council will serve as a liaison between the community of a cappella students with the administration, Durham community, and rest of Duke’s campus to ensure their needs are met.
